Assessment that makes room for your full self
Many queer, trans, and neurodivergent adults have spent years feeling pressured to mask or disconnected from themselves after trying to fit environments that were never built with them in mind.
Assessment at Kosmos Psychology is designed to feel collaborative, affirming, and grounded in respect for your lived experience — not just symptom counts or diagnostic labels.
You are more than a diagnosis, symptom checklist, or survival strategy.

A note on insurance
Navigating insurance can be overwhelming, so let’s find out if your insurance covers assessment together. I always encourage folks to be in communication with their insurance company and have an understanding of their policy. My goal is to schedule our appointments with enough time in advance to check with your insurance. I aim to keep you up to date each step of the way. Use the question sheet below and call the number on the back of your insurance card.

Free 15-minute Consultation - Virtual
o This is time for us to get to know each other and plan next steps should you wish to continue. I also collect a non-refundable deposit of $260 (which is applied to your overall bill, covering our first session fees).
Session 1 – Intake Session – Virtual
o Each therapeutic evaluation starts with an Intake Session in which I conduct the Clinical Interview. If you have ever attended individual therapeutic services, this first session will likely look similar. These sessions provide so much valuable information in which I get to hear about your life story in your own words.
Sessions 2-3 – Evaluation Session(s)- Mixture of in-person and virtual
o This is where cognitive, academic, social, executive functioning, emotional/behavioral measures are commonly administered.
Generally, at least one of these sessions are in-person due to common assessments in evaluations require hands-on manipulation of testing materials. I prioritize measures which require us to be in-person during this session in the hope that they can be completed in the time allotted. If there is time, we will conduct all measures in your assessment during this time.In my experience, evaluations can typically be completed within 4-5 hours. This can vary depending on the scope of the referral question.
Some evaluations can be strengthened by interviewing folks who are involved in your life (e.g., close friend, professor/teacher, romantic partner, family member). Please note that I will never interview folks in your life without your written permission and we will discuss it together before proceeding. I will discuss with you the focus of the interview and highlight that this will be around your evaluation and will not include me disclosing personal information.Feedback Session – Virtual
o This session is conducted via telehealth and after the completion of the evaluation and report writing. During this time, we will review the data, findings, and interpretation of results together. We will also discuss the resulting diagnosis (if any) at this time and go into individualized recommendations.
Sometimes folks benefit from an additional feedback session. Please let me know if you would like to have a second feedback session as a means to better understand the results of your evaluation.

Reasons for receiving a psychological evaluation vary from person to person, though below I provide some common reasons why folks choose to:
To understand why they process information differently and explore potential recommendations to increase abilities
To better understand their own cognitive functioning and find tools to better support themselves across environments (e.g., school, work, home, relationships)
To follow up about whether they meet official diagnostic criteria for autism after self-identifying as autistic
To obtain diagnostic clarity when traditional therapy hasn’t worked for them
Identify interventions that are tailored specifically to them
